Features
Everything a public meeting needs to be captioned
Made for the way public meetings actually run: long sessions, public comment in more than one language, recesses and closed sessions, and a clerk who has no time for another system.
Where captions appear
On every screen in the room
- TV · Dais
Chamber screen
A full-screen caption display for the TV in the chamber or the lobby, with one, two or more languages side by side, your meeting's title, the time and a QR code.
- QR code · No app
Captions on any phone
Residents scan the QR code on the screen and read along in their own language, at their own text size. Nothing to install, nothing to sign in to.
- YouTube Live
Livestream captions
Send the same captions to your YouTube Live stream, so viewers at home can read along too.
YouTube Live shows one caption language per stream; translations are on the chamber screen and phone page.
Translation
In the languages your residents read
Choose the languages for each meeting. Spanish and other languages can update live while people speak.

During the meeting
Built for how meetings run
- Names · Streets · Programs
Your local names
A glossary for council members, streets, neighborhoods and programs, so captions and translations spell them right.
- Recess · Closed session
Pause and resume
Pause captioning for a recess or closed session and resume after. While paused, nothing is captioned, translated or stored, and the screens show "Paused".
- One screen per room
Many meetings at once
Council, planning commission and committee rooms can run at the same time, each with its own screen and link.
- About 1 second
Fast enough to follow
Captions appear about a second after the words are spoken, and the sentence in progress updates as it is said.
- Clearly labeled
Honest about machines
Every screen says the captions are automatic and may contain errors.
- TXT · SRT
Transcripts
Every meeting's captions in each of its languages, as text or subtitle files, for the record and for the video archive.
Zoom, YouTube and your website

- Zoom CC
Zoom meetings

- YouTube Live
Livestream captions
The same captions in your YouTube Live stream, so viewers at home can turn on CC.
- No iframe
Your own website
One script tag adds an accessible live caption box with a language picker to your site, styled to match. How →
Accuracy and control
Tools to get every name right
- Names
Who's speaking
Speech recognition tells voices apart. Name them once ("Councilmember Rivera") and captions show who is speaking, on screens, phones, Zoom and transcripts.
- Human review
Live correction desk
Optional: captions wait a few seconds so an operator can fix, hold or drop them before they reach any screen. For high-profile meetings.
- Autocorrect
Fix it once
Rules like "Pal Mdesert → Palm Desert" fix captions as they're produced, before translation, so the fix carries into every language.
- Transcripts
Correct after the meeting
Edit any caption; translations are redone and the transcript files include your fix. Then teach the fix so it's right next time.
- Glossary
Local names
Council members, streets and programs taught to speech recognition, so they're heard right in the first place.
- Alerts
Know when something fails
If captioning, YouTube, Zoom or a webhook stops working, our team is alerted by email right away.
What you need
No new hardware
If you already livestream your meetings, you have everything you need.
- RTMP · SRT
The encoder you have
Add SentraCaptions as one more destination on Pearl, OBS, vMix or another encoder, next to your YouTube or website stream.
- Any TV
A screen in the chamber
Any TV or monitor with a web browser, or the CivicCA dais display, can show the chamber screen.
- CivicCA or API
Your meeting software
Use it with CivicCA, or connect another agenda or streaming platform through the API.
